Professor Dr. Dr. h.c. Georg Brunner, Vorstandsmitglied des Instituts für Ostrecht der Universität zu Köln, ist vom Präsidenten der Republik Ungarn, Professor Dr. Ferenc Mádl, wegen "jahrzehntelanger herausragender Verdienste bei der Vertiefung der ungarisch-deutschen Wissenschaftsbeziehungen" mit dem Mittelkreuz des Verdienstordens der Republik Ungarn ausgezeichnet worden.
