Bereits seit acht Jahren werden in Wolfsburg am Fachbereich Gesundheitswesen der Fachhochschule Braunschweig/Wolfenbüttel hochqualifizierte Augenoptiker ausgebildet. Das Besondere daran - und damit einmalig in Deutschland - ist die Kombination "Studium inklusive betrieblicher Ausbildung" mit Bachelorabschluss. Der Gesellenbrief und Hochschulabschluss "Bachelor of Science'" sind dadurch in nur fünf Jahren möglich. Kooperationspartner des Studienangebotes sind die Augenoptiker-Innung Hannover, Berufsbildende Schulen II (Augenoptik) des Landkreises Gifhorn sowie die Fachakademie für Augenoptik, Hankensbüttel. Eine Zusammenarbeit mit Ausbildungsbetrieben der Augenoptik ist bundesweit möglich.
