Unter der Leitung von Prof. Dr. Mosaad Megahed haben Mediziner der Düsseldorfer Universitäts-Hautklinik ein neuartiges Verfahren entwickelt, das die Diagnose von schwarzem Hautkrebs im Anfangsstadium (Melanoma in situ) revolutioniert.
Bei einem Drittel aller betroffenen Patienten, bei denen durch herkömmliche Methoden vermeintlich harmlos eingestufte Gewebeveränderungen festgestellt wurden, konnten die Düsseldorfer Forscher durch das neue diagnostische Verfahren ein bösartiges Tumorwachstum nachweisen.
Die Ergebnisse sind in der aktuellen Ausgabe der renommierten Fachzeitschrift "The Lancet" erschienen.
