Koch and Bolotin research groups at the Department of Physics coordinating with the European Physical Society

The European Physical Society (EPS) is inviting physicists and companies to the EPS Forum networking event, which will be held in Berlin from March 25 to 26, 2024. The program features a diverse array of conferences, roundtables, and workshops with the aim of taking knowledge transfer between physics research and potential applications in Europe to the next level. Attendees can look forward to plenary talks by three Nobel laureates in particular. The event will be held in English and is open to all interested parties from the fields of research and industry. Early-bird registration is open until February 1, 2024, at https://epsforum.org/register/.

    A Multifaceted Program

The EPS Forum 2024 will offer a wide range of engaging formats and exceptional speakers.

    March 25, 2024 (Day 1):

Early-career researchers, interns, doctoral candidates, and postdoctoral researchers will come together with physics-based companies and start-ups to discuss exciting research challenges and career opportunities. Early-career physicists will discover unique possibilities for new projects and career paths, while companies are sure to reap the benefits of the latest insights and innovations in physics as well as encountering promising young talent.

    March 26, 2024 (Day 2):

In-depth research as well as scientific and societal challenges facing the physics community will be the focus of the second day of the event. The latest achievements in physics will be highlighted by the most outstanding physicists in Europe and beyond. Visitors will get the chance to attend plenary talks by Nobel Prize winners Klaus von Klitzing, Stefan Hell, Anne L’Huillier, and Nicola Spaldin, winner of the “L’Oréal-UNESCO for Women in Science International Award.”
Department of Physics at Freie Universität Berlin to Serve as Co-organizers

The EPS Forum 2024 is being co-organized by the Department of Physics at Freie Universität Berlin and coordinated by the research groups of Professor Christiane Koch and Professor Kirill Bolotin.

Professor Koch’s theoretical working group researches quantum dynamics and quantum control. The group conducts research at the Dahlem Center for Complex Quantum Systems and is involved in several Collaborative Research Centers. Professor Koch heads the “Quantum Optics and Photonics” section of the German Physical Society.

Professor Bolotin’s experimental working group researches nanoscale transport, optoelectronics, and two-dimensional materials such as graphene and 2D heterostructures. In addition to its own laboratories at the Department of Physics, the Bolotin Lab conducts research at SupraFAB and is also active in a number of Collaborative Research Centers.
    About the EPS Forum

The 2024 EPS Forum in Berlin is the second edition of the EPS Forum, a new initiative of the European Physical Society. This event builds on the success of the first edition held at the Sorbonne in Paris in July 2022.

The European Physical Society (EPS – www.eps.org) advocates research in physics and its contribution to the economic, technological, social, and cultural development in Europe. Representing forty-two national physical societies and 130,000 researchers, the EPS promotes excellence in physics research and cooperation with physics-based industries; education and student mobility; publication and outreach. The EPS awards highly prestigious prizes to outstanding researchers.

    Help

Search / advanced search of the idw archives
    Combination of search terms

You can combine search terms with and, or and/or not, e.g. Philo not logy.

    Brackets

You can use brackets to separate combinations from each other, e.g. (Philo not logy) or (Psycho and logy).

    Phrases

Coherent groups of words will be located as complete phrases if you put them into quotation marks, e.g. “Federal Republic of Germany”.

    Selection criteria

You can also use the advanced search without entering search terms. It will then follow the criteria you have selected (e.g. country or subject area).

If you have not selected any criteria in a given category, the entire category will be searched (e.g. all subject areas or all countries).
