idw distributes the contents of its member institutions systematically, thereby increasing their outreach and feedback. idw also makes the contents available to selected content partners in addition to individual end consumers. They embed the idw contents – manually or automatically – into their own programme, such as in the news section of their websites.
After consulting with idw, content partners can share selected idw contents on their websites by using the following three methods:
Ideally, the content partner embeds the shared idw content together with a title and a teaser text, and links this to the full view of the news item in idw.
For automatic sharing, idw provides its content partners with a sophisticated API, which comes with numerous built-in filters for contents:
Sharing the idw contents is generally free of charge. idw charges its content partners only a non-recurring setup fee for setting up a standard interface. Additional content filters can be implemented upon consultation and will be invoiced separately depending on the complexity.
In case of a large number of queries, it may make better sense to provide certain users or user groups with their own interface. idw will allocate the incurred costs to the appropriate content partner after consultation.
As a service in return, the content partner makes a clear and distinct reference to the cooperation with idw on their websites, preferably directly on the news page (“With the support of Informationsdienst Wissenschaft (idw) / idw logo + link to idw-online.de) as well as in their General Terms and Conditions.
idw reserves the right to refer its content partners by name on an appropriate subpage, including the logo and the link to the respective news page. In addition, idw reserves the right to expand this section with additional information, e.g. description of the target groups, of the shared content as well as the respective hit rates.
