There are several ways to access content from Informationsdienst Wissenschaft. Here, we present the different channels and their advantages.

We have installed a second instance for those active in the world of scientific communication, particularly our member organisations. On Facebook and Instagram we share the latest technical news from Informationsdienst Wissenschaft and let you know which events we will be attending. We also post the most-read press releases from our website several times a week.

idw Magazine

Our appealing magazine makes the search and sort functions even more convenient. Benefit from the precise provision and display of topics that you search for or prefer. You can even bookmark your searches to get an updated view on your next visit. You can also choose to see only news from certain organisations.

Knowledge thrives on connections. That’s why you see related results on the same topic below individual news articles. Accredited journalists can see all embargoed news once they log in to the idw magazine.

Smartphones and tablets inform you only about what interests you

The smartphone app from Informationsdienst Wissenschaft really is smart. You can fine-tune the information that appears on your screen as push notifications. Commonly used keywords from our archive are used as filter criteria, which you can select or deselect. You can also make multiple selections and save them as keyword lists.

Email subscription

With a free email subscription to Informationsdienst Wissenschaft (idw) you can receive news and/or events that are precisely tailored to your thematic and regional preferences. You can also choose how often you want to receive the emails: get individual pieces of information on an ad-hoc basis or opt for our daily or weekly summaries. The subscription is free of charge. You can change it, pause it or cancel it yourself at any time.

RSS feed

You can subscribe to the news you want to read via our RSS feed. To do this, you need to up an individual RSS feed.

You can also receive news from individual idw members separately. Select the organisation you want to hear about from the members’ directory and activate the RSS feed icon next to the “Press Releases” or “Events” button.

Search / advanced search of the idw archives
Combination of search terms

You can combine search terms with and, or and/or not, e.g. Philo not logy.

Brackets

You can use brackets to separate combinations from each other, e.g. (Philo not logy) or (Psycho and logy).

Phrases

Coherent groups of words will be located as complete phrases if you put them into quotation marks, e.g. “Federal Republic of Germany”.

Selection criteria

You can also use the advanced search without entering search terms. It will then follow the criteria you have selected (e.g. country or subject area).

If you have not selected any criteria in a given category, the entire category will be searched (e.g. all subject areas or all countries).
