Je nach Ausmaß der Arthrose erfolgt der Einsatz unterschiedlicher Modelle von Knie-Endoprothesen (von griech. Endo - innen). Die standardisierten Operationstechniken gewährleisten dabei die schonende Behandlung von Bändern und Muskeln. Eine der derzeitigen Hightech-Entwicklungen ist das sogenannte NexGen Rotating Hinge Knee der Firma Zimmer Germany GmbH - ein Kniegelenk mit Achsführung und rotierender Plattform, das insbesondere älteren und muskelschwachen Patienten und bei Wechseloperationen eine Wiederherstellung der Gelenkstabilität und -funktion ermöglicht.
