Im Rahmen des Gadara Region Project arbeitet das DEI zusammen mit dem Biblisch-Archäologischen Institut Wuppertal auf dem Tall Zira'a (5,88ha) in Jordanien. Der über 5000 Jahre durchgängig besiedelte Hügel ist die Hauptquelle für die Erforschung der menschlichen Besiedlung des nördlichen Transjordanien und seiner überregionalen Beziehungen vom mittleren 4.Jt.v.Chr. bis zum 19.Jh.n.Chr.
