Die Freie Universität hat in der zweiten Runde des Exzellenzwettbewerbs des Bundes und der Länder zum Stichtag 15. September neun Antragsskizzen für Exzellenzcluster sowie fünf Antragsskizzen für Graduiertenschulen bei der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft eingereicht. Folgendes sind die Themen der Exzellenzcluster und Graduiertenschulen:
