LightMAT 2017 provides a platform for academic and industrial researchers, scientists and engineers to present and discuss the recent development and progress made in Magnesium, Aluminium, Titanium and their alloys and materials combinations. Additional sessions are organized beyond single metals and address common processes and main applications, intended to provide comparison and cross fertilization, giving a wide overview of individual advances, challenges and highlights, covering:
Conventional and advanced light weight applications and products in automotive, aerospace and other relevant transport and lightweight applications
Fundamental aspects of the three metallic lightweight materials and their alloys, their processing and (physical) metallurgy issues involved
Microstructure evolution, related properties and advanced simulation
Industrial fabrication, processing, joining and corrosion protection issues
Additive manufacturing of metallic structures enabling novel lightweight designs
LightMAT 2017 addresses industry as well as academia and intends to strengthen the link between the two. Furthermore, the conference promotes the participation and the networking of young engineers, scientists and students.
Topics
The conference topics cover lightweight materials such as Aluminum, Magnesium and Titanium, their processing as well as their specific technology and property features, which are involved in their use in modern transport systems and structural lightweight applications.
LightMAT 2017 gives a deep insight into the fundamentals and the specific requirements that apply to each of the three lightweight materials. The materials are viewed individually or in combination in multi-material designs, including the aspects of processing, joining and corrosion protection. In addition, promising enabling-technologies such as additive manufacturing are highlighted.
Plenary, Lectures and Poster presentations cover the following topics:
A – Processing
B – Applications
C – Alloy Development
D – Hybrid Materials and Multi-material designs
E – Characterization and testing
F – Computational materials design
G – Sustainability
AM – Special Topic - Additive Manufacturing
ECAA - Special Symposium
Additive manufacturing - the industrial version of 3-D printing – is already used to produce some individualized items, such as medical implants, and plastic prototypes for engineers and designers. The special topic “Additive Manufacturing” shall give an overview of advances on 3-D printing of extremely sophisticated applications made of light alloys. Furthermore, the session shall figure out both the current and the future challenges and opportunities of this promising technology on its way out of today’s niche market.

Hinweise zur Teilnahme:
Registration fees
Organizers invite prospective authors to submit their abstracts related to the conference topics. Abstracts should not exceed 300 words in length and should be submitted through the conference website.
Please indicate whether an oral or poster presentation is preferred. In particular young scientists are very welcome to actively contribute to the conference by submitting an abstract.
The abstracts will be evaluated in March 2017 and if accepted, the authors will be informed about the kind of presentation (oral or poster).
Do you have any questions concerning the abstract submission? Please contact the congress office via e-mail.

Registration and Cancellation Conditions for Presenting Authors
With the submission of an abstract and the receipt acknowledgement by the conference office, speakers will be pre-registered for the conference. After the submission deadline, abstracts will be evaluated and confirmed by May 2017.
After the confirmation, each speaker will receive an invoice that must be settled within two weeks after receipt, otherwise abstracts may not be considered in the programme.
Cancellation before 1. August 2017 will be subject to a 50 EUR cancellation fee. After that date 25% of the conference fee will be charged, and from 2. October 2017 the full conference fee will be charged upon cancellation. Delegate substitution by a person who is not already registered may be made at any time.
