Keynote Speaker
Benjamin Schoefer, is an Associate Professor of Economics at the University of California, Berkeley, and Director of the Macro Labor Center for the Study of Aggregate Labor Markets, Policies, and Institutions at UC Berkeley and the Institute for Research on Labor and Employment (IRLE). He is also a Research Fellow at the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR), the Bundesbank (German Central Bank), and the Halle Institute for Economic Research (IWH). Additionally, Professor Schoefer serves as an Associate Editor of the Journal of Monetary Economics.
His research primarily focuses on economic policy and applied economics, with a particular emphasis on labor market dynamics and macro-labor interactions. Professor Schoefer’s work spans topics such as wage rigidity, unemployment insurance, collective bargaining, hiring subsidies, and the macroeconomic consequences of labor market policies. His research combines theoretical modeling with empirical analysis, often utilizing administrative data from European countries.
