Psychological and Self-Alienation is the second of three workshops of the project “New Thinking on Alienation”. The aim of the workshops is to explore, clarify and assess the usefulness of the concept of alienation and related notions in political, psychological and environmental contexts, whilst keeping in mind the exploration of an overall concept of alienation. Indeed, we shall be considering to what extent there is a determinate general concept of alienation, rather than a family of interrelated, yet context-dependent, notions of alienation.
TeilnehmerInnen:
Dr. Diana Abad studied Philosophy at the University of Bielefeld. Since 2007 Abdad is research assistant at the University of Dortmund. Recent Publication: „Keeping Balance. On Desert and Propriety“ (2007).
Professor Owen Flanagan studied Philosophy and Neurobiology has is currently working at the Duke University in Boston. Between 1993 and 1994 he was President of the Society for Philosophy and Psychology. Recent Publication: “The Left Brain Conspiracy”, In: New Scientist (2009).
Professor Logi Gunnarsson ist Professor for Philosophy at the Technische Universität of Dortmund. Currently, he is working on his Publication about Personal Identity and Multiple Personality. Recent Publication: „Philosophy of Personal Identity and Multiple Personality“ (2009).
Dr. Tim Henning is research assistant at the Institute for Philosophy at the Friedrich-Schiller-University of Jena. His Publication „Person sein und Geschichten erzählen. Eine Studie über personale Autonomie und narrative Gründe“ (2009) was awarded with the Wolfgang-Stegmüller-Preis der Gesellschaft für Analytische Philosophie.
Dr. Felicitas Kraemer is assistent professor at the Philosophy & Ethics department of theUniversity of Eindhoven. She also is senior research fellow at the Centre for Ethics and Technology (3TU.Ethics).
Professor Thomas Schramme studied Philosophy and is currently working at the University of Hamburg. Recent Publications: „Patienten und Personen. Zum Begriff der psychischen Krankheit“ (2000).
Professor Tim Thornton is Professor of Philosophy and Mental Health and Director of Philosophy in the International School for Communities, Rights and Inclusion at the University of Central Lancashire. Recent Publication: „Essential Philosophy of Psychiatry“ (2007)
