In the midst of a global pandemic, rising environmental and social movements, and growing scrutiny of companies, the event will examine how purpose can connect with corporate governance, all with the aim of delivering more sustainable, trustworthy businesses. The format will be a series of dynamic debates alongside an audience Q&A. Please see below for more details of the event and the program.

IESE ECGI Conference: Can purpose deliver better corporate governance?

• Dynamic debate with world renowned scholars and prominent business executives, plus audience Q&A
With the global pandemic, renewed world attention focused on sustainability and the rise of social movements such as Black Lives Matter, corporate purpose has emerged as an anchor for better corporate governance and a pathway to develop sustainable business models. This has galvanized a global movement promising to restore trust in companies. But as businesses increasingly reflect on their purpose, they must consider how to integrate it into their culture, strategy and business model.
Under the theme “Can Purpose Deliver Better Corporate Governance?” the conference will explore this topic, as well as related questions such as: Is corporate purpose a luxury in times of crisis like the current one? Is sustainability (ESG Environmental Social Goals) within the purpose of the company? How should boards of directors deal with corporate purpose?
