Wanted: Research work in chemoinformatics by young scientists

    German-American prize "CINF Scholarship for Scientific Excellence" is designed to reward outstanding research of young scientists and to foster their contribution to chemical information / Poster presentation at the 234th ACS meeting in Bostson, MA, USA / Deadline for application is April, 2nd 2007

    Berlin, February 28th 2007 - CINF, the Division of Chemical Information of the American Chemical Society (ACS) and the German chemistry information centre FIZ CHEMIE Berlin are inviting young scientists to apply for the "CINF-FIZ Scholarship for Scientific Excellence". The scholarship program of CINF, funded by FIZ CHEMIE Berlin, is designed to reward graduate and postdoctoral students in chemical information and related sciences for scientific excellence and to foster their involvement in CINF.

    Three scholarships valued at $ 1,000 each will be given out at the 234th ACS National Meeting in Boston, Massachusetts, USA, August 19 - 23, 2007. Applicants have to be enrolled at a certified college or university. They have to present a poster during the Sci-Mix session at the National Meeting. The contents shall reflect upon the young researchers work and describe research in the field of chemoinformatics and related sciences. Abstracts for the posters have to be submitted electronically through ACS' Online Abstract Submittal System OASYS (sector Sci-Mix) at http://oasys.acs.org/acs/234nm/cinf/papers/index.cgi before April 2, 2007. At the same time Guenter Grethe, Chair of the selection committee, has to be informed about the application for the CINF scholarship through E-Mail ggrethe@comcast.net. Additionally, a 2,000-word long abstract describing the work to be presented has to be sent in electronic form to Guenter Grethe by June 15, 2007. Any questions related to applying for one of the scholarships should also be directed to the Chair.

    Winners will be chosen based on contents, presentation and relevance of the poster and they will be announced at the meeting. Winning posters will be marked "Winner of the CINF-FIZ CHEMIE Berlin Academic Scientific Excellence" at the poster session.
