Scientific programme of the 57th Meeting of Nobel Laureates live on the Internet

    Lectures presented by the Laureates at the 57th Meeting of Nobel Laureates, together with their podium discussions, will be broadcast live at http://www.lindau-nobel.de from July 2nd.The programme features lectures by Laureates on topics like "Why I love microbes" (Richard Roberts, Nobel Prize Physiology or Medicine 1993)and "Why do we not have a vaccine against TB or HIV (yet)?" (Rolf Zinkernagel, Physiology or Medicine 1996). Two podium discussions from the 57th Meeting of Nobel Laureates will also be broadcast.

    Science of the highest degree for everyone: Lectures presented by the Laureates at the 57th Meeting of Nobel Laureates, together with their podium discussions, will be broadcast live at http://www.lindau-nobel.de from July 2nd. The Meeting will be taking place from July 1st-6th, 2007 in Lindau and is devoted to Laureates in Physiology or Medicine. 18 Nobel Prize holders will be coming together with 560 young scientists of tomorrow from 63 countries.

    The programme features lectures by Laureates on topics like "Why I love microbes" (Richard Roberts, Nobel Prize Physiology or Medicine 1993), "The Cell Cycle and Cancer" (Sir Timothy Hunt, Physiologie oder Medizin 2001) and "Why do we not have a vaccine against TB or HIV (yet)?" (Rolf Zinkernagel, Physiology or Medicine 1996). Two podium discussions from the 57th Meeting of Nobel Laureates will also be broadcast: "Basic Science in Molecular Medicine" (CEST/Tuesday, July 3rd at 10.50 am) and "Medical Sciences and Society" (CEST/Thursday, July 4th, 11.30 am).

    Thanks to the support given by the International Lake Constance Conference (IBK) and the Free State of Bavaria, viewers from all around the world with an interest in science will be able to "attend" the Lindau dialogue 24 hours a day and with unrestricted access. The broadcasts will give incomparable insights into the lectures on research as they happen and the work carried out by the Nobel Laureates. All the contents will remain on the Web site after the live streaming and, together with contributions from previous Meetings, will form part of a globally unique database of scientific excellence.

    The annual Meetings of Nobel Laureates in Lindau are organised by the Council for the Meetings of Nobel Laureates in Lindau under the presidency of Countess Sonja Bernadotte (Isle of Mainau). The Foundation Lindau Nobelprizewinners Meetings at Lake Constance, whose Founders? Assembly includes 169 Nobel Laureates, supports the Meetings. The natural-scientific Meetings of Nobel Laureates in Chemistry, Physiology or Medicine and in Physics have been held since 1951. Since 2004, the holders of the Bank of Sweden Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel, have also held biannual meetings on Lake Constance.
