Know the warning label the classic Scrabble game comes with? Well, this Scrabble does not require any dictionaries to avoid a dispute as the software indicates any unknown words.

Berlin - August 2008 - Fraunhofer Institute for Reliability and Microintegration IZM, a worldwide leader in the development and reliability analysis of electronic packaging technologies, will present an electronically enhanced version of the classic board game SCRABBLE at IFA Berlin at IFA Technology and Components at the Science and Technology Forum in hall 5.3 at booth 03. With Scrabble turning sixty this year, the Application Center "Smart System Integration" of Fraunhofer IZM (APZ) offers all fans of Scrabble a unique opportunity of taking the game to the next level and play man vs. machine with the potential high score displayed according to the tiles on the rack. Knowing the highest possible score in advance, even serious Scrabble players face an additional challenge to fully exhaust their potential.
Fascinated by miniaturization and driven by the fact that microelectronics can enhance a vast majority of appliances and electronic devices, APZ aims to make any given device smarter, smaller and more reliable - even a classical board game like Scrabble.
The eScrabble is accompanied by an
    o
eRacket, Table tennis racket with determination of position and force of impact
    o
eBracelet, Low cost sensor bracelet for health care
    o
Intelligent golf ball, Measures the tee off force of the ball
    o
77 GHz Radar Module, Integration technology for driver assistance systems
    o
    TicTacToe, technologies for stretchable electronics
    o
Green Laser, Integration technology for mobile beamers
    o
SecuriFlex, Integration of extremely thinned ICs into security documents
    o
Wireless Sensor Networks, Sensor technology for shared data logging in metrology e.g.
Our experts and developers will show and explain all samples from August 29 to September 3, 2008 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in addition to challenging you at our eScrabble.
"I've had a chance to demo the game with various players", said Harald Pötter, head of Fraunhofer IZM Application Center "Smart System Integration". "I think it is great for any fan of the classic Scrabble for sharpening their word forming skills and general vocabulary."
It takes luck, a very large number of short letter words and a lot of skill to get a triple score and still use all the J´s, Z´s and X´s. Test the best of two worlds and win a Fraunhofer IZM coffee mug or come see for yourself how microelectronics is implemented into everyday products.
