Global innovation: How to get out of the economic crisis

Sabina Bossi, Karolinska Institutet Informationsavdelningen / Communications Department
Schwedischer Forschungsrat - The Swedish Research Council

A press roundtable on how R&D and innovation can help strengthen Europe's economy. 12:45-13:45, Tuesday, 2 December, at Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm

    Featured:
Jean-Philippe Courtois, President of Microsoft International
David Eyton, Group Vice President Research and Technology, BP PLC
Odile Quintin, EU Director-General for Education and Culture
    Harriet Wallberg-Henriksson, President, Karolinska Institutet
Moderator: Pat Cox, President, European Movement, and former President of the European Parliament

As the global economy enters what promises to be a prolonged recession, one important way out of the crisis is to encourage the development of innovative new products and services that can yield new jobs and growth. A gathering of European leaders takes place at Karolinska Institutet Dec. 2 to discuss appropriate responses for European industry, academia and policy in this new environment, and to make the first pan-European awards for innovators who start companies based on university research.

You are invited to participate in an open discussion with these leaders, about their views on the economic challenges ahead and how innovation can help improve the climate for recovery and jobs in Europe.

Location: Cesar lecture hall, Berzelius väg 9, Karolinska Institutet, Solna

Please RSVP by 27 November to Sabina Bossi, Press Officer, Karolinska Institutet, at sabina.bossi@ki.se

Note: You are also invited to participate in an unusual conference on innovation, with these and other leaders in industry, academia and policy, that same day at Karolinska Institutet, from 10:00 to 17:00. You are also welcome to join us for the awards dinner that evening from 19:00 at IVA House, for the presentation of the ACES Academic Enterprise Awards.
