The first Autumn School on "Research in Forensic Populations", funded by the Volkswagenstiftung, will be held from 10th to 13th September 2009 in the Seeon monastery in Southern Germany. It is organized by young research fellows from the University of Regensburg (Germany), from Gent University (Belgium) and from the Lessius University College (Belgium).
In the context of the Autumn School, 32 European PhD students and Post-docs from all fields of the forensic sciences can come together and discuss their work. Furthermore, the Autumn School gives these young scientists the opportunity to get to know the most prominent international scholars from Europe, USA and Israel. The aim of the School is to familiarize with several classical research methods, with their use in populations of forensic hospital inmates and prisoners, as well as with consequences of this research for legal practice.
This kind of advanced training in an international and interdisciplinary way with special focus on research with delinquents is promising within the field of psychology and its related areas such as psychiatry, law and philosophy. In personal contact with the leading experts in the field, junior scientists benefit from the expertise of these scientists and can promote their research projects.
