Augsburg/Paris – The partners of the international EU Culture project “EuroVision - Museums Exhibiting Europe”, which is co-ordinated by Prof. Dr. Susanne Popp (University of Augsburg), are coming together for their fifth Smaller Meeting, at FRAAP (Fédération des réseaux et associations d’artistes plasticiens), in Paris from October 13th to 16th 2015.
Highlight of the meeting is the 1st implementation of the EMEE Workshop “One Object – Many Visions – EuroVisions. Museums, contemporary artists and target groups” designed by the hosts of ESPE Université Paris-Est Créteil (UPEC) and implemented at the MAC VAL (Musée d'Art Contemporain du Val-de-Marne) on 15th October. During the fifth Smaller EMEE Meeting the implementation of the so called EuroVision Lab., an experimental series of exhibitions and activities under the title: “One Object – Many Visions – EuroVisions”, will be the main focus. The EuroVision Lab.s takes place in seven partner institutions and puts to the test the projects results and convey ways for European re-interpretation of local museum objects in a trans-regional way as well as the concepts of social arena and bridging-the-gap to museum visitors. The meeting in Paris will be dedicated especially to the evaluation of the first EuroVision Lab. activities in Slovenia, Italy, Austria and Bulgaria since July 2015 and the planning of the next EuroVision Lab. events. A second focus of the meeting will be the development of a study module that is meant to be used for teacher and museum expert training seminars.
Subsequent to the meeting the rest run of the EMEE Workshop “One Object – Many Visions – EuroVisions. Museums, contemporary artists and target groups” will take place in the MAC VAL Musée d'Art Contemporain du Val-de-Marne on 15th October. The workshop is designed by the EMEE partner UPEC-ESPE and deals with audience development as well as artistic partnerships in museums. EMEE partners, museum experts and master students will participate in the workshop and evaluate it afterwards. The final version of the workshop will be available together with the EMEE workshop “How to use scenography for the synaesthetic translation of perspectives? “ designed by EMEE partner Atelier Brückner GmbH, for free download from the EMEE website soon after the meeting. The fifth Smaller EMEE Meeting taking place at FRAAP (Fédération des réseaux et associations d’artistes plasticiens) is organised by ESPE de l'Académie de Créteil, Université Paris-Est Créteil (UPEC-ESPE).
“EuroVision - Museums Exhibiting Europe” (EMEE) is a European museum development project focusing on national and regional museums. It ist carried out between 2012 and 2016. With innovative and interdisciplinary concepts based on history didactics, the project – funded by the Culture Programme of the European Commission with 2 million Euros – is intended to develop multi perspective approaches for the Europeanization of national and regional museums. The project explores an innovative, interdisciplinary approach for museums to reinterpret their objects in the broader context of European history. An international and multi-disciplinary team consisting of museum experts, cultural workers and scenographers are engaged in realising this objective. Furthermore, especially people who usually do not go to museums shall be convinced and invited. New ways of presentation, scenography and possibilities to participate encourage visitors to discover transnational and European perspectives. At the same time, the project develops creative concepts for the audience development and tries to assign a new role to the museum as a “social arena” within an increasingly multicultural society.
The EMEE project is coordinated by the Chair of History Didactics of the University of Augsburg. Project partners are the National Archaeology Museum in Lisbon (Portugal), the National Museum of Contemporary History in Ljubljana (Slovenia), the National Historical Museum in Sofia (Bulgaria), the Atelier Brückner in Stuttgart (Germany), the art association monochrome in Vienna (Austria), the Roma Tre University in Rome (Italy) and the University Paris-Est Créteil – ESPE in Paris (France).
