IVAM Product Market „High-tech for Medical Devices“ at COMPAMED 2015

    The COMPAMED has become an international leading trade fair for the supplier market of medical manufacturing. This year, for the first time, it takes place as a four-day-fair

    As the traditional Product Market “High-tech for Medical Devices” in Hall 8a, the IVAM Microtechnology Network joint pavilion showcases solutions for medical technology on 700 sqm of space. The key technologies to these solutions are microtechnology, nanotechnology, photonics and advanced materials.

    With a record number of 55 companies, this year’s IVAM joint pavilion is bigger and more versatile than ever.

    The international exhibitors will present miniaturized components, high-tech electronics, innovative laser processes, functional coatings, smart sensors as well as high-precision structuring, measuring and screening processes that constantly make medical technology products safer, cheaper and more reliable.

    Additionally, the COMPAMED HIGH-TECH Forum takes place on all four days and offers extensive insights how the key technologies are already in use today and where future potential lies e.g. in the manufacture of mobile analysis, therapy and monitoring devices, in printed electronics or in international markets such as Latin America.

    Smart sensor solutions for analysis, therapy and monitoring

    ACEOS GmbH presents its established and reliable sensor technology for measurements of O2 and CO2 concentrations and volume flow rates in human breathing. The technology is used by prestigious global manufacturers and in an own terminal. Herein ACE-DXV is a combined module with integrated pump, temperature, humidity and pressure sensors which allows for a calibration only with ambient air. The further development of this technology will lead to so called “cold sensors” for measurements up to 100% O2. New medical applications, e.g. ventilation, will be addressed soon.

    CiS Forschungsinstitut für Mikrosensorik GmbH presents at COMPAMED the development of customized technologies for optoelectronic, piezoresistive and impedimetric microsensors and components as well as small volume production, e.g. optical sensors for detecting vital parameters, micro laser doppler sensors for blood flow measurements, micro laser lights or sensors for the determination of optical properties like absorption, light scattering, refractive index and polarization. Furthermore In-situ impedance spectroscopy of biological material, piezoresistive sensors for pressure, force and strain as well as temperature diodes, radiation detectors and silicon photomultiplier are topics at the booth of CiS.

    CMOSIS Germany GmbH develops image sensors for industrial inspection, medical endoscopies and automotive on-board cameras. CMOSIS Germany GmbH offers the widest off-the-shelf portfolio of high-speed line-scan sensors (Dragster) and is the leading innovator for small-size sub-mm camera modules for medical endoscopy. CMOSIS Germany GmbH’s 1mm-size NanEye digital camera family is widely adopted in novel digital endoscopic equipment and one-time use medical devices.

    European Sensor Systems S.A. (ESS) is a global developer and manufacturer of high quality sensors based on micro-electronics technologies. The MEMS-based sensors and sensor systems measure pressure, flow, acceleration and temperature. ESS products are used in demanding control and monitoring applications in the industrial, medical, aerospace and consumer goods markets.

    Sensirion AG stands for innovative products, customer-specific solutions and excellent support. The company's products continually set new standards in various markets across the globe. At this year's COMPAMED trade fair, Sensirion is presenting new and enhanced sensor solutions for measuring gas and liquid flow rates and differential pressure.

    Fraunhofer Institute for Silicon Technology ISIT researches and manufactures components and systems in microelectronics and microsystems technology. The business unit “Medical Sensor Systems” researches on portable multi parameter analysis systems for the point of care diagnostics. The business field “Wearables and Printed Electronics” develops new products for sports, medical, personal safety and automotive applications. Examples for these are autarkic force sensing shoe inlays for acoustic gait analysis or hybrid electronics systems for body tracking applications.

    Photonic applications and optical components

    Fraunhofer ENAS introduces an MR compatible micro endoscope developed together with PolyDiagnost GmbH. The functional microendoscope combines optical and ultrasound capabilities for brain imaging of diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s or tumors. The institute shows fully-integrated lab-on-chip systems for on-site analytics and point-of-care diagnostics, too. The point-of-need systems combine integrated sample preparation, low-cost micro-pumps and multiple bio sensors (optical, electrochemical, SERS) for health and environmental monitoring, infectious diseases and veterinary diagnostics.

    The BERLINER GLAS GROUP is one of the world’s leading providers of optical key components, assemblies and systems as well as high-quality refined technical glass and optical bonded touch systems. BERLINER GLAS develops, produces and integrates optics, mechanics and electronics into innovative system solutions for its customers.     FISBA AG is a worldwide leading supplier of customized optical components, microsystems and systems.     Mikrop AG is the leading source for Swiss precision miniature optics serving all high-tech markets. For 35 years the company has been developing, manufacturing and mounting highly complex, miniaturized optical components and sub-assemblies. Mikrop is able to manufacture serial high- precision lenses in reliable top quality and starting at diameters of just 0.3 mm and up to 15 mm.

    Optotune Switzerland AG develops and manufactures adaptive optical components. Optotune’s focus-tunable lenses and laser speckle reducers offer new solutions for several industries including machine vision, laser processing, ophthalmology and laser projection. At COMPAMED, Optotune shows how focus tunable lenses can make optical medical technology devices more compact, how they enable new features and how a laser speckle reducer can be used for speckle-free laser illumination.

    Zünd Precision Optics will present uncoated or coated planar optical single components and planar optical assemblies in dimensions of 0.2 mm up to 50.0 mm. The company’ s support begins with the design, development of prototypes and extends to the execution of production from 50 to 20,000 units and more.

    Laser technology for manufacturing of medical products

    femtos GmbH is a young and innovative service supplier for laser-based processes, located in Bochum, Germany. The focus is on laser cutting of stents or similar products e.g. implants, including the necessary post-processing. By using ultrashort laser pulses, the heat input into the machined material is minimized; the result is high precison along with lowest material damage at the same time. The production line enables the company to machine tubing and flats, while it is experienced in working with several materials like NiTi, stainless steel and different types of polymers.

    With about 420 employees and 11,000 m2 of useable space, the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology ILT, founded in 1985, is one of the most important contracting research and development institutes of its sector worldwide.     Metrology: quality assurance for highest demands

    FRT, Fries Research & Technology GmbH is one of the worldwide leading suppliers in the field of 3D surface metrology systems for research and production. The measurement systems of FRT provide non-contact, non-destructive and also fully automated data about topography, roughness, thickness etc. Due to its versatility and flexibility, the MicroProf of FRT has established itself as a standard system in modern surface metrology. Due to the unique multi-sensor technology, the MicroProf can be applied and equipped universally. Diverse tasks can be measured together in one device.

    Jenoptik is one of the leading manufacturers of high-precision, tactile and non-tactile production metrology in the industrial metrology sector. Its portfolio includes total solutions for a wide range of measuring tasks, in every phase of the production process and in the measuring room. Precise production processes are particularly important for the interaction of workpieces in their environment.     Functional coatings for surfaces

    Surfix BV presents its advanced nanocoatings for the micro- and nanotechnology market. Surfix’s proprietary surface modification technology can be used to locally functionalize complex devices with molecular nanocoatings.
