Berlin, 01.03.2016 – As of March 1st, Dr. Marina Frost is to take up the position of Managing Director at the Hertie School of Governance. She joins President Prof. Helmut K. Anheier, PhD, and Associate Dean Prof. Dr. Henrik Enderlein to form the Hertie School’s new leadership team.
For many years already Marina Frost, who holds a doctoral degree in law, has served in leadership positions in university administration. In 1992 she was elected as registrar of the University of Hildesheim, becoming the first woman ever to hold this title at a German university. She then went on to obtain the same position at Göttingen University and Heidelberg University respectively, institutions where she also led a number of groundbreaking processes of reform. Most recently she served as Vice President of Budgeting, Staffing and Technology at Humboldt University in Berlin.
“We consider ourselves very lucky to have Marina Frost, one of the most experienced and well-known experts in the area of university management, join our team. We are thrilled that she will be continuing and expanding upon the work of building up the Hertie School, particularly since we are at an especially important developmental phase as a university,” said President Anheier.
Marina Frost is taking over from previous Managing Director Anna Sophie Herken, who left her position at the Hertie School after five years to take on a leadership role at Hasso Plattner Capital GmbH. “The Hertie School has been growing steadily since 2011 and occupies a solid place in the market. We have recently taken several important steps to develop the university by introducing new study programmes and appointing a high-ranking Practice Council. Anna Sophie Herken played a significant role in the success of these endeavours, for which we are especially grateful,” was Helmut Anheier’s comment.
The Hertie School of Governance is a private university based in Berlin, accredited by the State and the German Science Council. Interdisciplinary and practice-oriented teaching, first-class research and an extensive international network set the Hertie School apart and position it as an ambassador of good governance, characterised by public debate and engagement. The School was founded at the end of 2003 as a project of the Hertie Foundation, which remains its major partner. www.hertie-school.org
