Some 240 experts from the field of Digital Libraries gathered in Hannover // Best Paper Award and Best Poster Award conferred
HANNOVER, 15 September 2016 – The L3S Research Centre and the German National Library of Science and Technology (TIB) jointly hosted the Conference on Theory and Practice of Digital Libraries (TPDL) in Hannover from 5 to 9 September 2016. Some 240 experts and decision-makers from the field of Digital Libraries gathered at this year’s conference. Under the title “Overcoming the Limits of Digital Archives”, participants from 34 countries exchanged information and ideas on current and future developments in the area of digital libraries and archives, and their applications. In addition to numerous presentations and discussions, TPDL 2016 also offered tutorials, workshops and poster presentations on topics such as “Digital Library Design”, “User Aspects”, “Multimedia and Time Aspects” and “Web Archives”. There were also special interdisciplinary application tracks on “Digital Humanities” and “e-Infrastructures”. At its stand, TIB presented its AV Portal for scientific videos from the fields of science and technology as well as its supraregional document delivery services.
Best Paper Award and Best Poster Award conferred
The Best Paper Award at TPDL went to the paper entitled “The ‘Nomenclature of Multidimensionality’ in the Digital Libraries Evaluation Domain”, which had been submitted by Leonidas Papachristopoulos, Giannis Tsakonas (University of Patras, Greece) and Michalis Sfakakis, Nikos Kleidis and Christos Papatheodorou (Ionian University, Greece). The Best Poster Award at TPDL was won by Joffery Decourselle (LIRIS, France) for his poster entitled “Case-oriented Semantic Enrichment of Bibliographic Entities”.
The 21st International Conference on Theory and Practice of Digital Libraries will be held in Thessaloniki, Greece from 17 to 21 September 2017 (http://www.tpdl.eu/tpdl2017/).
