The interaction in context of the National Scholarship at HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management makes it highly attractive for both companies; especially those from the region, such as MIBRAG, LVV, Stadt- und Kreissparkasse Leipzig, and IDT Biologika, and students, since the number of applicants has increased significantly over the last few years.
National Scholarships have been awarded for five years now at HHL where out-standing and engaged students from HHL are supported by an institutional or private sponsor. This support is matched by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research. It has become a tradition and shows the value of this kind of support as sponsors and scholars establish strong relationships that are driven by the mutual exchange. When matching sponsors and scholars up HHL puts vigorous efforts into finding a perfect fit, such as MBA student Tongyun Lu emphasized after having met the representative of his sponsor, the Stadt- und Kreissparkasse Leipzig. “I really appreciated how HHL established the contact to Mr. Kohl from Sparkasse Leipzig,” Lu said. “The personal contact helped me to maintain a very good contact with the corporate side. In addition, I got the great chance to discuss internship opportunities in the finance sector that I am interested in.”
M.Sc. student Sven Joosten, also partly sponsored by the Stadt- und Kreissparkasse Leipzig says, “I see the national scholarship not only as a great financial support but also as a possibility to have an enriching exchange with the scholars as well as the corporate partners.”
Adds MBA student Aparajita Deb from India: “This scholarship further supported my motivation to work harder and learn more in my academic experience. At the same time it gave me the opportunity to make the best out of my HHL experience through various platforms created around the area of entrepreneurship and networking. I am also very grateful for the scholarship, as it also led me to a new connection in the form of IDT Biologika.”
Her fellow MBA student Jakob Fenzl, from Germany, says about his personal connection to his sponsor, “With my background in engineering and my strong personal interest in energy supply and power generation, there is a strong link to MIBRAG's business. I had the chance to meet with a representative from MIBRAG already and am looking forward to a fruitful future exchange also with other scholarship holders.” With regard to his MBA studies, Jakob Fenzl is enjoying the young, creative and international environment at HHL and is eager to apply his new business knowledge to real world projects.
The Chinese MBA student Ying Cui says, “The company sponsor of the scholarship is the LVV Leipziger Versorgungs- und Verkehrsgesellschaft mbH, which fits my past working experience in the automotive industry. I especially appreciate that the selection criteria for national scholarship focus not only on academic grades, but also on international experience and non-university commitment such as voluntary and social involvement. My volunteer experience in Turkey and my internship in Germany had given me the advantages in the application for the internship.”
