Regulatory and competition law are among the fastest growing areas in the legal field. These developments have increased the demand for lawyers with an understanding of competition regulation in the labour market. Many companies have implemented programmes to promote competition law compliant behaviour among employees. Since 2013, the Leuphana University of Lüneburg in Germany has offered the LL.M. Masters degree course in Competition and Regulation. In October 2017, the LL.M Competition and Regulation programme will commence and applications for enrolment are now open.
Due to the growing importance of economic issues in the legal sciences, the course focuses on legal issues in an economic context. Students will also focus on other issues such as competition and antitrust law, procedural law, aid law, regulation law and individual regulatory sectors, as well as European and international regulations for competition. Graduates of the Masters programme will also meet a portion of the requirements for the acquisition of the title of ‘Fachanwalt für Vergaberecht’ (procurement lawyer).
The study programme is now offered in a new distance learning format with the number of face-to-face lectures reduced to three intensive study phases. In addition to these attendance lectures, participants will study by e-learning in the three study semesters. Furthermore, the programme is taught in English to prepare students for work in international teams.
