Summer Program "Doing Business in Europe" at HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management from July 12 to 23, 2017.
A total of 24 students from four continents currently attend the Summer Program at HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management from July 12 to 23, 2017. The HHL Summer Program has been held every year since 1997, imparting practice-oriented knowledge and relevant skills to enable students to build up business relationships in the European Union, especially in Central and Eastern Europe. The participants come from HHL's partner universities in Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Iceland, Mexico, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, Turkey, the U.S., and the United Kingdom.
The two-week interactive course is composed of lectures, company visits and case studies providing students a variety of perspectives. The lectures are given by given by HHL professors, government advisors, as well as professors from our eastern European partner universities. The combination of academic, cultural and in the market perspectives as to the current European business climate will allow students to form their own views as to the future of business in the European Union.
Company visits in both Leipzig and Prague, will further allow participants to hear first-hand how managers of multinational companies attempt to reap the rewards of doing business in Europe while managing the hurdles. Furthermore, participants will gain insights as to how
various cultures affect how decisions are made at the management level. Unique to HHL’s Summer Program, company
Jaime Marcus Aguero, MBA student at the University of North Texas, says, "Living in the United States with the current political climate, I am inundated with information regarding the European Union from the US point of view. It has been said that the European Union is obsolete and that Brexit is the beginning of the end of the EU.
When seeking a program that would truly explain what the European Union is and isn’t, who benefits and who doesn’t, and if the challenges are insurmountable, the HHL Summer Exchange Program of Doing Business in Europe was, exactly, the course I was looking. From this course, I intend to gain a better understanding of the winds of change blowing across Europe, how these changes impact the member countries within the European Union and Europe’s historical relationships with the U.S., and what I can do to present a more complete picture of the European Union back home.”

The Summer Program teaches similarities and differences in the individual EU member states in addition to the economic and managerial related content.
