The Advanced Imaging Society (AIS) honored 13 women in Entertainment Arts and Technology with the Distinguished Leadership Award. Kathleen Schröter, Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications at Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute HHI, receives the award for her efforts to bring the scientific approaches of imaging technologies into the media industry. She accepted the award at the official luncheon in Beverly Hills.

“The jury concluded that Kathleen is known for her outstanding ability to connect the scientific and academic research communities with senior entertainment industry stakeholders. A leader with her level of accomplishments in both of these industries is rarely found”, said Jim Chabin, President of the AIS.

Kathleen Schröter has worked for Fraunhofer HHI since 2007. After a stint in the internal marketing consulting at the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, she moved to Fraunhofer HHI’s newly created 3D Innovation Center as its Executive Manager in 2011. Still managing the Innovation Center under its new name 3IT - Innovation Center for Immersive Imaging Technologies - Kathleen has been leading the Marketing and Corporate Communications department since October 2014. Managing the 3IT lead to understanding the industry and so she started to host, curate and moderate events whose focus are on digital media and immersive technologies. In her numerous speeches at different conferences, she translates academic scientific approaches into real use cases and daily life scenarios.

The 13 award winners for the Distinguished Leadership Award were selected by a committee of representatives from various fields of the entertainment and technology community, such as SMPTE and Women Who Code. With that AIS cooperates with Cisco’s Women in Technology program for the first time.

The Advanced Imaging Society was formed in 2009 by industry’s creative stakeholders including The Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, DreamWorks Animation (DWA), Sony, Paramount, IMAX, Dolby, Panasonic, MasterImage and others to advance the creative arts and sciences of stereoscopic 3D. The mission of AIS is to advance the arts and technologies of VR, AR, HDR, 3D, 360 Video, Cloud and Live Rendering, Artificial Intelligence and other innovative visual content for professionals active in entertainment, media and marketing industries.
