Net Impact Chapter joins forces with World Cleanup Day on September 15 to clean the Spree

Ulrike Schwarzberg Corporate Communications and Marketing
European School of Management and Technology (ESMT)

The Net Impact Chapter at ESMT Berlin is inviting the Berlin community to clean the Spree on September 15, 2018 at Treptower Park. From 10:30 a.m.-3 p.m., volunteers will remove waste from the river and its banks in one-and-a-half-hour shifts.

The Net Impact Chapter is carrying out the campaign in cooperation with its partners Wirtschaftsjunioren Berlin e.V., Decathlon Deutschland, Berliner Stadtreinigung, Flussbad Berlin e.V., wirBerlin e.V., and Let’s do it! Germany e.V.

Nikhil Bajpai, President of the ESMT Net Impact Chapter and full-time MBA student, said, “The small Net Impact community in Berlin is heartbroken by how easily some people simply throw their trash in the river after having relaxed on its banks. That’s why we are joining forces on September 15 with World Cleanup Day, which is uniting with millions of volunteers in 150 countries.”

The cleanliness drive is coupled with a roundtable and networking event at ESMT Berlin on September 14 at 6 p.m. All volunteers are invited to participate in the event. The chapter will be showing prints from Clean River Project, an environmental, educational, and art project which aims to reduce the plastic pollution of rivers and oceans. Confirmed speakers include Plan A, the first donation and knowledge platform in the fight against climate change, and Leogant, a company designing and distributing holistic concept solutions for water treatment.
