Two new Master's programmes start at TU Darmstadt

Bettina Bastian Stabsstelle Kommunikation und Medien
Technische Universität Darmstadt

In the winter semester 2020/2021, TU Darmstadt is offering the two new Master's programmes “Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management” and “Logistics and Supply Chain Management” in the Department of Law and Economics. The language of tuition for both study programmes is English and prospective students can submit their applications online up to 20 August.

Both study programmes focus on current themes relevant to business and society as a whole. In particular, the areas of entrepreneurship and logistics tap into forward-looking business markets that offer promising career opportunities for graduates of the study programmes. Already existing study programmes will also benefit from the teaching courses held in English and it will allow the department to make its range of courses more international.

    The study programmes:

Due to the increasing digitalisation and networking of business processes, it is increasingly important for students to learn how to innovate. This is where the Master’s programme “Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management” comes into play: It aims to provide students with the skills required to found their own company or to manage innovations in already established companies. As well as introducing students to methodological methods, the study programme will place great importance on providing a scientifically sound education – based on the latest findings from research into entrepreneurship and innovation. Possible career perspectives for students include the founding and management of their own growing company as well as jobs in industrial and commercial companies, management consulting firms and associations.
Graduates will be provided with the necessary skills to manage and promote the innovative capabilities of organisations, control and optimise innovative processes in companies and manage innovation centres. At the same time, the Master’s programme will provide students with the basic foundations for taking on research-oriented activities at scientific or public institutions or for working in the area of research and development.

The study programme “Logistics and Supply Chain Management” is aimed at graduates with a Bachelor degree that have a special interest in logistics, production, supply chain management and transport. TU Darmstadt offers the ideal prerequisites for this study programme due to its location in the middle of the Rhine-Main region in which numerous logistics companies are active. Business administration is also a main focus of the programme, which is as international as the logistics sector itself. Students receive comprehensive training in the theory and basic principles of the subject matter, are integrated into ongoing research and are able to gain their own experience in practical projects. The new study programme is specifically designed to train prospective managers who are able to coordinate logistical systems thanks to their comprehensive grasp of systems thinking. The focus is placed on key tasks such as logistics planning, logistics controlling, supplier management, stock management, production planning and management, and model-based optimisation, as well as project and process management.
