New recycling rate targets for packaging are creating new requirements for household food packaging. In addition to the primary task of avoiding food waste through proper storage and packaging, the main focus is now shifting to the integration of food packaging into the circular economy. This year’s Cofresco Forum Round Table will therefore be addressing the question of how the requirements of a circular economy for food packaging can be implemented in the household. The 13th Round Table of the Cofresco Forum entitled “Household Packaging for a Circular Economy” will be held on 15 Septemper 2021 in Minden, Germany.
International researchers and companies will be presenting their current research and inviting the audience to participate in an open discussion: Which requirements must recyclates meet for use in food packaging? What is the status of aluminium and paper recycling? What are the developments in renewable packaging materials? How can the recycling and treatment processes of material flows be improved? What role does design play with regard to expanding the amount of material cycles?
Guided tour of Cofresco’s technical centre
Following the lectures and presentations, Cofresco Forum participants will have the opportunity to join a guided tour of Cofresco’s technical centre and gain an insight into the research work being carried out in Minden. The centre conducts both material tests and processing tests with alternative raw materials.

The 13th Cofresco Forum Round Table will be held in accordance with the then valid official regulations on protective and hygiene measures. Participants will be informed of the current details in good time before the event.
If - contrary to current developments - it should not be possible to hold the Round Table on site in Minden in September, we will hold it online on the same date.
