From September 28 to October 2, 2021, the international symposium of the German Society of Semiotics will take place digitally - Participation is possible for students as well as for external interested professionals
At Chemnitz University of Technology, research in the field of semiotics is conducted at the Chair of German Linguistics, Semiotics, and Multimodal Communication (Head: Prof. Dr. Ellen Fricke), among others. It is about understanding the fundamental, manifold, and ever-changing sign processes that underlie our access to the world. In order to discuss findings from this research field in an international setting, the virtual international congress of the German Society of Semiotics (https://www.dgs2021.tu-chemnitz.de/content/willkommen.php.en) will take place from September 28 to October 2, 2021. Every three years, authoritative international semioticians gather in Germany to discuss sign processes in all their breadth and diversity. This year the congress is entitled: "Transformations - Signs and their Objects in Transition." The Chair of the German Society of Semiotics as well as editor of the Journal of Semiotics (http://www.semiotik.eu/journal-of-semiotics) is Prof. Dr. Ellen Fricke from Chemnitz University of Technology.
In addition to researchers, students and interested persons can also participate in the conference. Registration (https://www.dgs2021.tu-chemnitz.de/content/anmeldung.php.en) is still possible online until October 1, 2021. The regular participation fee is 35 euros, but student participation is free of charge. In addition to plenary and panel lectures, there will also be workshops.
The following internationally renowned researchers have been secured as keynote speakers:
- Paul Bouissac (Victoria University Toronto)
- Lars Elleström (Linnaeus University)
- Susanne Hauser (Berlin University of the Arts)
- Christian Pentzold (University of Leipzig)
- Susan Petrilli (University of Bari Aldo Moro)
- Hartmut Stöckl (University of Salzburg)
