Students of German Schools Abroad Get Exclusive Insight into STEM Studies at Technical University of Darmstadt and Leibniz University Hannover

36 students from German schools abroad will be given an exclusive insight into the STEM courses offered by the Technical University of Darmstadt and Leibniz University Hannover as part of the STEM Study Exploration Week “TU9-ING-Woche” from August 15 to 19, 2022.

TU9, the Alliance of leading Technical Universities in Germany, is organizing the “TU9-ING-Woche” for the twelfth time for students from German schools abroad who would like to take up technical or scientific studies in Germany. Students in the 11th and 12th grade from all over the world were eligible to apply. The prerequisites were very good grades in the STEM subjects and German – and, of course, a keen interest in technology and engineering.
The TU9-ING-Woche has been held annually at two TU9 Universities in parallel since 2019. After two years of virtual STEM Study Exploration Weeks, the hosts are delighted to be able to welcome the participants from 19 different countries in person.
The theme of this year’s study exploration week is “STEM for a Sustainable Future”. 19 girls and 17 boys will be offered a diverse program at the TU9 Universities, with workshops, department visits, campus tours and study advice, giving them a comprehensive insight into STEM studies in Germany. Networking events as well as city and museum tours give them the opportunity to get to know not only local students but also their fellow students from all over the world. Excursions and company visits round off the program. A special highlight will be the meeting with alumni of the TU9-ING-Woche who have since taken up studies at a TU9 University. They can vividly report on what it is like to move to Germany to study and starting a new phase of life here.
The TU9-ING-Woche takes place as part of the BIDS program of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and is partially funded by the German Federal Foreign Office. The students receive a stipend for travel, accommodation, and program participation.
