The new wave of anonymized microdata of the German Ageing Survey is now available for scientific, non-commercial research. The survey was conducted between November 2020 and March 2021. Individual and societal developments can be observed over a period of more than 24 years, based on all survey waves of the German Aging Survey (20,714 respondents, 50,256 valid interviews).
The German Ageing Survey (DEAS) is funded by the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth (BMFSFJ) and observes changes in the life situations and ageing trajectories of people in the second half of life. The survey was first conducted in 1996 and is based on nationally representative samples of several thousand participants aged 40 and older.

The cohort-sequential longitudinal design of the German Ageing Survey opens up various possibilities for analysis: The data can be used for the cross-sectional investigation of life situations and life contexts, for the analysis of individual developments over three to 24 years of life as well as for cohort sequence analyses. A comprehensive insight into the contents and innovations of the German Ageing Survey is provided in the brief description; in addition, numerous other documentation materials in German and English are available for free download.
The anonymised and processed data of the German Ageing Survey (DEAS), the PREFER 2009 study and the German Volunteer Survey (FWS) are available free of charge from the FDZ-DZA as Scientific Use Files in SPSS and Stata format. For reasons of data protection law, access to the data is subject to the conclusion of a user contract.
