Ukrainian management researcher Olga Goncharova will continue her work at the University of Passau as DAAD Guest Professor with the Chair of Professor Carolin Häussler – among other tasks, she will act as mentor for German-Ukrainian student teams.

Backed by Professor Carolin Häussler, who holds the Chair of Business Administration with a focus on Organisation, Technology Management and Entrepreneurship, Ukrainian management researcher Dr Olga Goncharova from Kyiv National Economic University has been granted a DAAD guest professorship. In her new position, she will be supporting Professor Häussler's team in teaching and research on international management with a focus on Eastern Europe.

Dr Goncharova left her hometown of Kyiv together with her family on account of Russia's war of aggression. She moved to Passau after accepting the university's support offered to students and researchers escaping from Ukraine.

"Olga Goncharova is an asset both professionally and personally," says Professor Häussler. She has in fact become a key liaison for Ukrainian students at the University of Passau who have fled the war. She is also involved in teaching activities, applying her knowledge in projects like the "Business Incubation Hub" of the "Honours Degree in Entrepreneurship" where students get to transform their business ideas into a sustainable and viable business plan.

    Mentor for German-Ukrainian teams

Two of the current six "Honours Degree in Entrepreneurship" teams are from Ukraine. Dr Goncharova acts as their advisor and mentor. Her English-taught hybrid modules on "Strategy for High-Tech Startups" (New Ventures and Born Global), "Honors Degree" or "European Venture Lab" are open to students from the University of Passau and Kyiv National Economic University. Working together in German-Ukrainian teams, they develop concepts for young startups with a European orientation. "It is my heartfelt desire to serve as an ambassador for internationalisation and as a mentor for Ukrainian students and for German students interested in Eastern European countries," says Dr Goncharova.

Kyiv National Economic University and the University of Passau have been partners for ten years. Carolin Häussler and Olga Goncharova intend to use the DAAD guest professorship as a springboard to deepen relations and continue networking efforts at European level in full accordance with the University of Passau's European focus.

    Personal profile

Olga Goncharova is associate professor at Kyiv National Economic University, which is named after the Ukrainian economist and politician Vadym Hetman and where she obtained her master's degree in International Economy and was awarded her doctorate in Global Economic Relations. One of her research interests is to study the resources and models of global economic development. She has also served as visiting professor at the University of Redlands in California.
