Florian Klebs Pressearbeit, interne Kommunikation und Social Media
Universität Hohenheim

University of Hohenheim continues to be in the league of the world's best 16 percent, mainly due to its high level of research / Still no. 1 in Agricultural, Nutritional, and Food Science

Small and excellent: The University of Hohenheim is among the top 16 percent of the world’s universities in the current World University Ranking. The British magazine “Times Higher Education” (THE) publishes this ranking each year, and this time it included nearly 1,904 top universities from 166 countries. It is an evaluation of the entire university. The outstanding research conducted at the University of Hohenheim in Stuttgart is particularly significant for its placement. The main contributors to the group ranking of #251-300 were the disciplines that are very strong in research, such as agricultural sciences, nutritional science, and food sciences. This is confirmed by three other rankings that named the University of Hohenheim no. 1 in Germany in these subjects. See details at https://www.uni-hohenheim.de/en/rankings

The basis of the Times Higher Education World University Ranking is the overall performance of an entire university. The most important factor is strength and quality of research (59%), followed by quality of teaching (29.5%). In addition, there are other criteria such as internationality (7.5%) as well as patents and third-party funds from industry (2% each).

The THE ranking uses statistical data and bibliometric data from Elsevier's Scopus database as its source. These are supplemented by the results of a worldwide survey of researchers.

Germany’s no. 1 in agriculture, nutrition, and food sciences:

In addition to the THE World University Ranking, a number of international rankings were published this year that assess the top position of individual subjects. These once again confirm the top position of the University of Hohenheim as Germany's no. 1 in agricultural sciences, nutrition, and food science.

    September 2023:
The renowned research ranking of the National Taiwan University (NTU Ranking) listed the university as no. 1 in Germany, no. 16 in Europe, and no. 52 in the world. Each year, the NTU evaluates all international scientific publications for the globally respected ranking, assessing their number and quality.

    March 2023:
The influential QS World University Ranking by Subject lists the University of Hohenheim’s agricultural research including food science 1st in Germany, 8th in Europe, and 19th worldwide. The analysis by QS Quacquarelli Symonds, a British education provider, annually ranks the best universities primarily by research strength and examines factors such as academic reputation, publications, and citations of individual publications.

    November 2022:
The current Best Global Universities Ranking 2023 places the University of Hohenheim’s agricultural research including food and nutrition science 1st in Germany, 9th in Europe, and 39th in the world. The subject ranking of the U.S. News & World Report magazine is based on the analysis of Clarivate and takes into account research performance and international reputation.
