Kerstin Hennig appointed Professor at Frankfurt School - Real Estate Economist heads new Real Estate Institute

    Frankfurt School of Finance & Management has appointed Kerstin Hennig as Professor of Management Practice in Real Estate. Starting 1 November, the real estate economist will join the Finance Department. She will set up and lead the new Frankfurt School Real Estate Institute, which is supported by more than 15 leading companies in the real estate and finance industries.

    "Kerstin Hennig is an acknowledged expert and recognised thought leader in the real estate industry and ideally suited to set up and manage the Frankfurt School Real Estate Institute. We are delighted that she joins Frankfurt School”, says Professor Nils Stieglitz, President of Frankfurt School of Finance & Management. “Throughout her long professional career Kerstin Hennig gained broad experience as project manager and managing director. Her track record in teaching and research is outstanding and her contribution to position Frankfurt School as a partner of the real estate industry will be substantial."

    “The real estate and the finance industries are closely intertwined, and real estate is the largest asset class worldwide”, explains Professor Kerstin Hennig. “Numerous members of Frankfurt School’s Finance Department are world-class academics. I look forward to addressing real estate topics in teaching and research with them."

    Frankfurt School Real Estate Institute

    The new Frankfurt School Real Estate Institute will launch at the beginning of 2024. It will address the industry’s urgent topics and the sector’s role in the economy. Frankfurt School will conduct research projects and expand its academic and Executive Education programmes as well as its networking activities. The business school and its new Institute will also support the industry to recruit qualified talent and increase the industry‘s visibility. Frankfurt School will establish a second tenure-track professorship within the Institute with a corresponding portfolio of research interests. Representatives from the Institute’s partners will serve on its Business Advisory Board; a Scientific Advisory Board will further strengthen the Institute’s network.

    Kerstin Hennig

    Kerstin Hennig studied Business Administration at European Business School Universität für Wirtschaft und Recht (EBS). There, she also earned her Ph.D. In addition, she completed a postgraduate programme in Real Estate Economics at EBS. She held numerous executive management positions in the real estate and the finance industries, for example with UBS Germany and UBS Switzerland, with IVG Immobilien AG, Groß und Partner or Tishman Speyer. In 2018, she was appointed Professor of Real Estate Management at EBS where she also headed EBS Real Estate Education and the EBS Real Estate Management Institute as Academic Director. Kerstin Hennig serves on numerous boards. She is a member of the supervisory boards of pbb Deutsche Pfandbriefbank AG, of DEMIRE AG and DWS Grundbesitz GmbH and member of the advisory boards of Ehret & Klein and KINGSTONE Investment Management GmbH. Kerstin Hennig also serves on the board of ZIA Deutschland Mitte (Zentraler Immobilien Ausschuss e.V.; the leading German umbrella association for the property and real estate sector) and on the Executive Committee of Urban Land Institute Germany/Austria/Switzerland.
