Media Advisory for Journalists, Bloggers and Science Influencers

    • #LINO24 with focus on Physics: 30 June – 5 July
    • Accreditation for participation at Lindau’s Inselhalle
    • Programme overview at Lindau Mediatheque, including concert by West-Eastern Divan Ensemble
    • Opportunities for interviews with Nobel Laureates and Young Scientists from almost 100 nations

Media representatives can now apply to be accredited for the 73rd Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting – an opportunity to experience the unique atmosphere in which Nobel Laureates and Young Scientists not only discuss current issues of Physics but that also provides space for conversation in an informal personal manner.

Around 40 Nobel Laureates have confirmed their participation in the meeting, among them Anne L’Huillier, recent Nobel Laureate for her research in Attosecond Physics. From Sunday, 30 June, to Friday, 5 July, they will encounter the next generation of scientific talent in Lindau – over 600 young researchers from all over the world.

This year’s programme revolves around various topics in physics that are particularly relevant to society at large: solutions for the future of energy supply; the potential and impact of artificial intelligence; and a broader discussion of basic and applied research on quantum physics.

    Structure and Programme Highlights

The programme at the Inselhalle starts on Sunday, 30 June at 14:30, with an opening ceremony featuring Nobel Laureates Donna Strickland and Steven Chu among others. During a press reception in the evening, media representatives will have the opportunity to meet international colleagues as well as the Lindau communications team.

Over the course of the following four days, various formats come together to create a diverse programme, which features two more Lindau premieres: Alain Aspect and Anton Zeilinger, recipients of the 2022 Nobel Prize in Physics for their research on Quantum Entanglement. Lectures and Agora Talks will be complemented by panel discussions among Nobel Laureates, Young Scientists, and high-ranking representatives from society and politics – addressing the potential and hype surrounding quantum technology, as well as the question of trust in science in the era of artificial intelligence.
At our Next Gen Science Sessions, Young Scientists offer exciting insights into their current research in the fields of energy, artificial intelligence, and the interdisciplinary potential of physics.

The closing day (5 July) starts with the traditional “Baden-Württemberg Boat Trip” to Mainau Island in Lake Constance. In line with the peace-oriented 1955 Mainau Declaration, the closing ceremony will be followed by a concert given by the West-Eastern Divan Ensemble, led by Michael Barenboim.
