The Vertical Engagement Tracker tracks the progress of Europe’s 6G Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking (SNS JU) Public Private Partnership in developing 6G technology enablers and applications across diverse market segments. It aims to map, analyse, and align 6G R&I project use cases with industry needs, providing a structured framework for engagement, fostering innovation through collaboration with industry associations, and shaping the future of 6G technology by bridging gaps between research and market applications.
The Vertical Engagement Tracker (VET) online platform aims to systematically map and monitor use cases across various vertical industry domains. To accomplish such a purpose, it collects, tracks and analyses use cases emerging from SNS R&D projects, offering insights into the adoption of 5G technologies and the transition toward 6G applications. By compiling a diverse range of use cases, the tool helps to identify trends, highlight industry-specific challenges, and assess gaps in deployment.
Main features
The Vertical Engagement Tracker is an interactive, data-driven platform that provides real-time trend analysis across 5G and emerging 6G applications. It offers interactive visualizations that track:
· Geographic distribution, identifying adoption disparities.
· Sector-specific adoption, analyzing Industry 4.0, Smart Cities, Automotive, Media/Entertainment, and more.
· Technology trends, monitoring the rise of AI-driven networks, NTN/Satellite integration, Digital Twins, Entertainment, and Terahertz (Thz) communications.
· Experiment types, mapping use case evolution from proof-of-concept to large-scale deployment.
· Regulatory & economic barriers, assessing the impact of spectrum allocation, costs, and policy frameworks.
With intuitive design, interactive graphics and analytics, the Vertical Engagement Tracker aims to help policymakers, researchers, and industry leaders identify investment opportunities, track disruptive technologies, and align EU-wide policies with the future of connectivity.
Beneficiaries
Its primary beneficiaries include technology developers, Digital Innovation Hubs (DIH), businesses, policymakers, and research organisations, who can track innovation trends, understand sector-specific adoption challenges, and make informed strategic decisions.
Recent Improvements and Additions
Over time, the Vertical Engagement Tracker has been expanded and refined to ensure more precise tracking and analysis of vertical industry trends. Recent updates include an expanded dataset covering third-party-funded projects, offering a broader picture of the research landscape. Additionally, a new interactive charts functionality is also introduced to enhance data visualisation, allowing users to explore use cases by sector, geography, and technology stream.
By the end of 2024, 247 use cases from 52 SNS-funded projects were documented, covering various industry sectors such as Industry 4.0, Smart Cities, Smart Health, Automotive, Media/Entertainment and Security/Public Protection and Disaster Relief (PPDR).
With the use of Vertical Engagement Tracker, you can gather insights and track the technological advancements and industry stakeholders linked with diverse use cases and vertical associations, fostering collaboration, and encouraging knowledge exchange.
