The volume of data generated in research - and across many other fields - continues to grow at a rapid pace. But how can this data be leveraged efficiently and sustainably?
On June 11, 2025, the U Bremen Research Alliance hosts the Research Data Day, an event designed for participants of all experience levels - whether beginners, data specialists, or the simply curious. The event offers a unique opportunity to connect with professionals and peers while building practical skills in research data management.
Often described as the "new gold," research data holds immense potential. Unlocking this potential requires forward-thinking and responsible data management based on the FAIR principles - Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable. With its focus on FAIR Future Skills, Research Data Day highlights the competencies needed in research, academia, and beyond to proactively navigate the challenges of a data-driven world.
A day full of knowledge sharing and networking – Open to all
The daytime program will take place on the University of Bremen campus from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and is open to anyone interested, regardless of academic background. Interactive sessions, hands-on workshops, and a range of informational offerings will invite attendees to engage with current topics related to research data.
The evening event, beginning at 5:30 p.m., will be held at the Bremische Bürgerschaft (Bremen Parliament) under the theme "Collaboration and Data Competence: Pathways to FAIR Solutions for Society," and is open to all those interested in the societal value of data and its responsible use.
The Bremen Research Data Day is organized by the U Bremen Research Alliance as part of the interdisciplinary Data Competence Center DataNord, in close collaboration with researchers and research support staff from its member institutions. Participation is free of charge.
