On 17 June 2025, the Leibniz-Institut für Kristallzüchtung (IKZ) was awarded the berufundfamilie audit certificate for the fourth consecutive time. This places the IKZ among the organizations in Germany that are committed to systematically embedding work-life balance into their corporate culture over the long term. The institute first received the certificate in 2015.
The current certification is based on a successful re-audit conducted in summer 2024, which evaluated how effectively the institute has implemented family- and life-phase-conscious measures. In a participatory dialogue with employees, additional areas for improvement were identified. Based on this, targeted and needs-oriented measures were defined for the fourth audit period. Key priorities include promoting mental health, training managers, and supporting employees who care for family members. To ensure sustainable implementation, a follow-up dialogue process is planned for 2027.
“We are very pleased to receive this recognition once again. Achieving a balance between work, science, and personal life is not only a competitive advantage for us, but also a reflection of our social responsibility,” emphasized Institute Director Prof. Dr. Thomas Schröder. “The fourth successful certification confirms that we are on the right track and motivates us to keep moving forward.”
The berufundfamilie audit certificate is a recognized quality seal for strategically developed, family- and life-phase-conscious human resources policies. It is awarded by the Board of Trustees of berufundfamilie Service GmbH under the patronage of the German Federal Ministry for Education, Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth.
