The Vector Stiftung is launching a new funding round to support research that develops innovative technologies and methods aimed at reducing the concentration of CO₂ in the atmosphere. Starting 15 January 2026, researchers in Baden‑Württemberg are invited to submit their project proposals.
Human‑induced greenhouse gas emissions - particularly CO₂ released from the combustion of fossil fuels - are key drivers of global warming. Innovative solutions are required to not only curb these emissions but also actively remove CO₂ from the atmosphere in order to limit global temperature rise. This funding initiative aims to address precisely this challenge.
The call targets research teams working on novel technologies, methods, or concepts for CO₂ capture or the development and optimisation of negative emission technologies (NETs). Both technical solutions and nature‑based approaches are eligible. Applicants must clearly demonstrate the climate‑relevant potential of their approach, including a comparison of expected emission reductions or storage capacity versus any emissions generated by the method itself.
Eligibility:
Researchers at universities, higher education institutions, and non‑profit research organisations in Baden‑Württemberg are eligible to apply. Collaborative proposals involving several institutions are also possible.
Funding framework:
Project duration: up to 36 months
Funding amount: up to €350,000 per project
Submission deadlines:
30 April 2026
30 September 2026
All proposals submitted by a cut‑off date will be evaluated in a batch. A decision is typically made within two months after each deadline.
