Laser technology in practice: LZH at Hannover Messe 2026

Patricia Fischer Kommunikation
Laser Zentrum Hannover e.V.

Laser Zentrum Hannover e.V. (LZH) will present diverse applications and services in laser technology and additive manufacturing at Hannover Messe 2026, together with the Cluster of Excellence PhoenixD (Hall 11, B56) and Niedersachsen ADDITIV (Hall 15, A14).

Together with the PhoenixD Cluster of Excellence, LZH will present integrated photonics at the Lower Saxony joint booth of the Ministry of Science and Culture in Hall 11, Stand B56. Among other exhibits, visitors will see a quantum optical solution for secure communication. Additionally, LZH will be represented alongside the Niedersachsen ADDITIV project at the joint booth of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Transport and Construction in Hall 15, Stand A14. LZH will demonstrate how companies can benefit from the practice-oriented research conducted at the research institute. Furthermore, ADDITIV Niedersachsen will demonstrate to small and medium-sized enterprises the opportunities offered by additive manufacturing, such as the production of lightweight yet high-strength components.

Intelligent optical systems for practical applications

LZH will present a ready-to-use quantum key distribution system together with the Cluster of Excellence PhoenixD. The system uses quantum optics to make data transfer tamper-proof and strengthen digital sovereignty. PhoenixD will also showcase the SmartSens optical test system, which can transform smartphones into mobile analysis devices. Both developments follow the vision of PhoenixD and LZH to make compact and intelligent optical systems accessible for broad application fields.

LZH, the R&D partner for companies

At the digitalization booth in Hall 15, LZH will showcase its comprehensive service portfolio. Working independently of manufacturers and confidentially, LZH collaborates closely with companies on innovations in laser technology and photonics. Visitors will gain insights into LZH's services in optical coatings, laser development, and laser materials processing, such as laser micromachining and joining of challenging materials.

    Additive manufacturing for medium-sized enterprises

The 3D printing experts from Niedersachsen ADDITIV will demonstrate at the same booth how Additive Manufacturing makes companies more economical and flexible. The team supports Lower Saxony companies in a practical, independent, and straightforward manner with all questions related to industrial 3D printing – from initial concept to concrete implementation. This year, the focus is on high-strength, additively manufactured components that can replace conventionally machined metal parts. Through clever design and suitable materials, costs can be reduced, delivery times shortened, and tooling eliminated. Using examples of fiber-reinforced plastics, specialty resins, and delicate metal structures, visitors will learn how process-appropriate implementation unlocks the full potential of 3D printing.
