This year's IAMO Forum entitled “Cultivating Methodological Fields, Harvesting Real-World Solutions: Advanced Methods in Agricultural Economics” will take place from 17 to 19 June 2026 in Halle (Saale), Germany. The international conference is dedicated to exploring the frontiers of research methodology in agricultural economics, with a special emphasis on their application to the pressing challenges and unique contexts of transition economies.
In an era marked by escalating climate challenges, rapid technological progress, complex geopolitical dynamics, and evolving requirements for sustainability and food security, the need for robust, relevant, and innovative research methods has never been greater. Sound and sophisticated scientific analyses provide the crucial foundation for developing effective solutions to these challenges. It is therefore paramount to reconcile the possibilities and limitations of research with the tangible needs of practice.
The conference contributions will critically assess innovative and advanced agricultural economics and interdisciplinary research methods. The forum will focus on how methodological advancements can better capture the complexity of agri-food systems and rural developments, supporting evidence-based policy and enhancing the real-world impact of agricultural economics, particularly for Central and Eastern Europe and Central and East Asia.

IAMO Forum 2026 is organized in cooperation with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the Institute for Food and Resource Economics at the University of Bonn (ILR), and the International School of Economics at TSU (ISET). The conference is funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) and the state of Saxony-Anhalt.
