Today, Prisca Merz takes over as Managing Director of TU9, the Alliance of leading Technical Universities in Germany. The policy manager succeeds Dr. Stephanie Christmann-Budian, who headed the TU9 Alliance’s Berlin Office until May 2026.
Prisca Merz is an experienced policy manager with substantial expertise in science manage-ment. Until recently, she worked as a team leader and policy officer in the area of economic and social policy for the British Embassy in Berlin. At Imperial College London, one of the UK’s leading universities, she was previously responsible for cooperations with Europe and Latin America. Prisca Merz studied European Studies in Passau and Italy and earned a Master’s degree in Public Policy from Maastricht University. She has also worked for the Argentine NGO CADAL and the United Nation`s International Labor Organization (ILO).
“I consider taking on the leadership of the TU9 Office at a time of growing global challenges a great responsibility. Many of the major challenges facing our society can only be overcome through close collaboration between research, industry, and society. With their world-renowned cutting-edge research and teaching, TU9 Universities make an important contribution to Germany’s future as an economic powerhouse. I am very much looking forward to engaging with partners and decision-makers from academia, politics, and industry, and would like to thank my predecessors for their excellent work, as well as the TU9 Executive Board for their trust,” the new Managing Director, Prisca Merz, says.
The TU9 Co-Presidents, Prof. Dr. Angela Ittel, President of Technische Universität Braun-schweig, and Prof. Dr.-Ing. With her extensive experience in policy management, in collaborating with diverse stakeholders, and in developing sustainable solutions in challenging political contexts, she strengthens the TU9 Alliance’s position as an innovative and trustworthy partner in the national and global academic landscape.”
