Güby / Hamburg. The Louisenlund Foundation in Güby, Schleswig-Holstein, and Kühne Logistics University (KLU) at its Hamburg campus are joining forces. Through a long-term partnership, the renowned boarding school and the international business university aim to strengthen the connection between excellent secondary-school education and top-level university teaching and research in northern Germany. The collaboration seeks to provide high-performing students with early pathways to successful academic careers and dedicated guidance during the transition from school to university.
The partnership focuses particularly on the distinguished offerings of the plus-MINT talent development program at Louisenlund, which provides targeted support for talented young people in mathematics, computer science, natural sciences, and technology. In addition to regular academic exchange, joint weekend workshops are planned on the Louisenlund campus or in Hamburg. Topics range from logistics and global sustainability to leadership, hands-on career courses, and collaborative projects between students from both institutions.
The two partners also plan to collaborate on international marketing for Louisenlund's English-language International Baccalaureate (IB) programs and KLU's exclusively English-taught degree programs, inspiring talent beyond national borders to pursue excellent educational opportunities in northern Germany.
Skills and Drive for Tomorrow's World
For Dr. Peter Rösner, Head of the Louisenlund Foundation, the partnership is a logical step toward reimagining future-oriented education:
"At Louisenlund, we don't simply teach young people retrievable facts. Our goal is to develop competencies that enable them to tackle tomorrow's challenges based on courage, independence, and strong values. KLU shares this philosophy. By connecting our innovative learning environment, particularly in the plus-MINT area, with KLU's academic excellence, we create a unique springboard for the architects of the future."
Dr. Immo Schmidt-Jortzig, Chancellor and Managing Director of Kühne Logistics University, emphasizes the distinctive approach the Hamburg business school brings to the partnership:
"We want to empower young people to make decisions for tomorrow and implement them with both data-driven precision and confidence. That's exactly what KLU's 'Operations Mindset' is about: the ability to combine strategic vision with razor-sharp operational execution. It means analyzing problems systematically, responding flexibly to change, and managing processes efficiently and sustainably. Together with the Louisenlund Foundation, we want to support this perspective during the school years and actively foster top performance."
Launch in September: Interactive Practice in Hamburg
The partnership will kick off with a visit by plus-MINT students from Louisenlund to KLU in Hamburg's HafenCity in September. In addition to learning about KLU's international degree programs, scholarship opportunities, and direct exchange with KLU students, the young participants can expect a compact, interactive program. They will learn how to present themselves confidently and persuasively during applications or networking in an "Elevator Pitch Workshop." They will then experience firsthand in an English-language "Humanitarian Logistics Board Game Session" how logistical decisions under time pressure directly influence the speed and success of humanitarian disaster relief operations.
