KLU continues its growth and development in the 2026/27 winter semester

International outlook, academic excellence, and outstanding learning conditions: Kühne Logistics University (KLU), headquartered in Hamburg’s Hafencity, continues to grow significantly as the new semester begins in September 2026. Around 300 new students are starting their studies in Hamburg, while another cohort is joining KLU’s Saigon campus in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, which opened last year. The private, state-recognized university is thus continuing on its path of growth and development.

KLU has also recruited additional faculty members from renowned international universities and introduced new approaches to teaching. During Welcome Week, the Hamburg campus is welcoming new students from 54 countries. Across its campuses in Hamburg and Saigon, KLU now has more than 700 students.

Particularly popular this year is the university’s established flagship program, the Master’s in Global Logistics & Supply Chain Management, with nearly 120 new students enrolled. The program prepares graduates for careers across a wide range of industries in an international environment. The Master’s in International Management is also in high demand, as is the Bachelor’s in Business Administration, which provides a strong foundation for careers in Hamburg and around the world.

“The strong interest in both our management programs and our specialization in global logistics shows how relevant and successful our approach is. Those who understand operational processes and interdependencies are better equipped to lead organizations from a holistic perspective. In-depth knowledge of supply chain management thus becomes a strategic tool for the leaders of tomorrow,” says Prof. Dr. Andreas Kaplan, President of Kühne Logistics University. Commenting on student numbers and KLU’s overall development, Kaplan adds: “Our plans for further development and internationalization are progressing as planned.” He also points to the university’s growing appeal among international academics: “I am very pleased that we have been able to recruit new colleagues who previously taught and conducted research at institutions including MIT, Cambridge, and Maastricht.”

KLU Campus in Saigon continues to grow

KLU’s Saigon campus, which opened a year ago, also continues to grow. With more than 60 students now enrolled, the Master’s in Global Logistics & Supply Chain Management has established a successful presence in Asia. The program combines research-based expertise in supply chain management from KLU faculty in Hamburg and Saigon with in-depth market and industry knowledge provided by faculty from Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HCMUT). HCMUT is one of Vietnam’s leading universities and maintains close ties with the regional business community.

    Operations Mindset as a compass

Whether in Hamburg or Saigon, KLU’s degree programs are guided by the principle of “Leading with an Operations Mindset.” As one of the world’s leading business schools, Kühne Logistics University prepares future leaders to make decisions and take action in an analytical, data-driven, and solution-oriented way. “This is also reflected in the continuous development of our teaching methods. From AI skills training to a ‘Statistics Escape Game’ that makes learning statistics more interactive, we prepare our graduates for the challenges they will face throughout their academic and professional careers,” says Kaplan. Kaplan also emphasizes the importance of close ties to business practice: “For example, Rolf Habben Jansen, CEO of Hapag-Lloyd AG, will once again teach at KLU, giving our students unique insights into the industry.”

    About KLU
