FIZ CHEMIE Berlin and TDS Herrlich GmbH launch a new CD-ROM database containing information on the chemical resistance of thermoplastics, thermoplastic elastomers, blends and thermosetting moulding compounds to various media / Also available for integration into the POLYMAT database
Berlin, November 2004 - FIZ CHEMIE Berlin, the German "Chemistry Information Centre", together with TDS Herrlich GmbH, have launched a new CD-ROM database containing information on the chemical resistance of plastics to various media. POLYRESIST is a manufacturer-independent database that provides high-quality factual data on the resistance of thermoplastics, thermoplastic elastomers, blends and thermosetting moulding compounds to various chemical media. In addition to the classification of the plastics into resistance classes, various influencing variables, such as temperature, concentration, exposure time to certain media can be retrieved for the respective plastic. This information is supplemented by data on suppliers and manufacturers of commercial products.
The wealth of information stored in POLYRESIST is available in two versions: as a self-contained CD-ROM database or in combination with the materials databases POLYMAT or POLYMAT light. The new database has been available since the end of October.
The independent CD-ROM version of POLYRESIST contains resistance data as well as descriptive texts, such as applications, characteristics, additives, reinforcements, trade names, manufacturers and suppliers.
POLYRESIST will be published in three stages. The first, currently available stage includes:
- 19,800 commercial products from more than 200 manufacturers
- media information on 1600 commercial products (3rd stage approx. 5000 products)
- more than 170 media in approx. 600 combinations (concentration, temperature, etc.)
- 4200 application keywords (e.g. intake manifold, fishing line)
- 2500 property keywords (e.g. sterilisable, food-safe, lacquerable)
- supplier addresses for 8900 commercial products
If the POLYRESIST resistance data are integrated into the materials databases POLYMAT/ POLYMAT light, a search can be made for the resistance data as well as the mechanical, thermal and electrical properties, applications, characteristics and diagrams pertaining to the respective plastic.
POLYRESIST effectively supplements the database family POLYMAT (materials database), POLYTRADE (trade names) and PolyVoc (plastics dictionary) that have been developed by FIZ CHEMIE Berlin conjointly with the Deutsches Kunststoff-Institut (German Plastics Institute).
The prices for POLYRESIST start at 360 €(spread over 3 stages in 3 years, 120 €each) or integrated into POLYMAT for 1580 € and in POLYMAT light for 700 €.
