From January 21 until January 23, 2005 the 5th ERDI Expert Seminar will take place in Bonn, Germany. Hosted by the German Institute for Adult Education (DIE) this international seminar seeks to provide information about current research and innovative practices in adult education in various European countries.
Even though motivation and participation in adult education has been an actively researched area, there is no definitive understanding why some adults participate in adult learning activities and some don't. The seminar will examine how our understanding about this complex issue has developed during the past 30 years when participation research has been actively conducted. Current trends and fresh ideas will be discussed, as well as future models and theories. The seminar will also focus on some innovative practices and projects, where adult motivation and participation has been enhanced using effective means.
The focus in the seminar will be participation research, however, the seminar would be of interest to anyone working in adult education and training sector (policy makers, developers, practitioners, researchers, managers, adult students and teachers of adults), and those working in the field of Lifelong Learning generally. The seminar language will be English.
The seminar fee is 200 €. It includes accommodation in single rooms at the conference centre (two nights, 21/22 January), meals and coffee during the conference, evening reception and seminar materials. The number of participants is limited to 40. Registration can be made until December 15th, 2004 online: www.erdi.com
