(Pfinztal) From October 20 to 21, 2005, the Fraunhofer ICT will hold its 7th workshop on 'Time and Temperature-resolved X-ray Powder Diffractometry - Industrial Applications in Material Technology'.
There are many areas in material technology where isochronal analyses of reactions, reaction products, phases, and mechanical tensions made in situ play an increasingly important role. Particularly at high or low temperatures, many processes may be properly understood only with the aid of information about the composition, configuration, structure, etc. of a material gathered on the spot. Examples include corrosion at high temperatures and time and temperature-dependent phase changes. Within the last 15 years, time and temperature-resolved x-ray powder diffractometry has established itself as a highly efficient and powerful method in this field.
This being so, the ICT's working groups on applied x-ray diffraction and high-temperature materials cooperate with the joint DGK and GEFTA (Gesellschaft für Thermische Analyse) working group on powder diffractometry in organising a workshop designed as a discussion forum for users and developers of materials and measuring equipment in research and industry.
The agenda includes applications of time and temperature-resolved x-ray diffractometry in material technology, equipment developments (x-ray sources, lenses, detectors), and evaluation and processing methods. In addition, manufacturers and developers will exhibit their products during the workshop.
