The pace of competition is accelerating and the balance of power, resources, people and talent is shifting away from Europe. The competition for talent is the key to be competitive. Winning the battle for talent means being better to train, attract and circulate talents. ScanBalt Campus faces this challenge. By pooling together resources within Life sciences and biotechnology in the 11 countries around the Baltic Sea - the ScanBalt BioRegion - global competitiveness can be achieved. At today's conference "ScanBalt Campus - Talents on Top of Europe" the work of the project ScanBalt Campus co-financed by EU structural funds were presented.

Winning the battle for talent means being better to train, attract and circulate talents. ScanBalt Campus faces this challenge.
By pooling together resources within Life sciences and biotechnology in the 11 countries around the Baltic Sea - the ScanBalt BioRegion - global competitiveness can be achieved. At today's conference "ScanBalt Campus - Talents on Top of Europe" the work of the project ScanBalt Campus co-financed by EU structural funds were presented. Eight cross-border multi-partner networks with concrete activities in research and education have been established.
Three hundred students have participated in ScanBalt Campus cross border activities promoting shared curricula between universities and industry.
Professor Bo Samuelsson, Göteborg University, Sweden, and chairman of ScanBalt Campus says: "ScanBalt Campus has in the last two years shown a remarkable capacity to be a catalyst for trans-national collaboration in ScanBalt BioRegion within research and education. We are very optimistic for the future".
Professor Flemming Besenbacher, the iNANO-centre, Aarhus, Denmark continues: "We have in Aarhus excellent and leading competences in nanosciences and believe that collaboration in ScanBalt BioRegion is a tool to reach global competitiveness".
The conference was organised by Göteborg University (Sweden), coordinator of the project and the iNANO centre in Aarhus (Denmark), one of the 31 partners.
About ScanBalt Campus
ScanBalt Campus (www.scanbaltcampus.eu) is a pilot project aimed at creating a critical mass in research and education within various scientific areas in life sciences and biotechnology. In the project 31 universities, hospitals and companies from 10 countries in Northern Europe united to increase the mobility of students, lecturers and researchers within the ScanBalt BioRegion.

ScanBalt BioRegion (www.scanbalt.org) is composed of Life Science and biotechnology actors in the Nordic countries, Balticum, Poland, Northern part of Germany and North western Russia. The ScanBalt BioRegion have 11 countries and 85 million people, more than 60 universities and 2149 life science/biotech companies including 671 research based biotech SME´s.
