Prince Albert II. of Monaco is patron of the first Internet conference "Klima 2008 / Climate 2008". Together with Annette Schavan, Federal Minister for Education and Research, and Achim Steiner, head of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the online conference on climate change is now under the patronage of three celebrities.
"Klima 2008 / Climate 2008" will take place exclusively on the Internet from 3 to 7 November. It will be organised under the leadership of Professor Walter Leal from the research and transfer centre "Applications of Life Sciences" of the University of Applied Sciences Hamburg.
Partner of the conference are the UNEP, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the European Space Agency (ESA). In addition, UNESCO declared the event to be a project of the United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (2005 to 2014).
Within the framework of "Klima2008 / Climate 2008", at least one million users are expected to take part in the conference worldwide. Scientists, politicians, businessmen, associations and NGOs, as well as individuals are invited to submit their technical papers for "Klima 2008 / Climate 2008" by e-mail to ftz-als@ls.haw-hamburg.de until 15 May.
